Meeting Local Needs

Food Pantry

One of the ways we engage with the community is through our monthly food pantry. Every third Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. our church creates a cordial atmosphere where people can come to receive everyday groceries. Life often brings unexpected challenges. Our pantry exists to offer a friendly, lending hand that mitigates the impact of life’s tragedies and difficulties.

Cold Weather Shelter

During the cold, frigid winters our church offers assistance at the local Cold Weather Shelter. Every Friday night for 3-4 months, we are able to provide a meal for those who visit the shelter that evening. Additionally, we have a few men from the church who work evenings at the shelter, and some even stay overnight. It offers another great opportunity to connect with our local community.

Samaritan’s Purse

Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is an entity of Samaritan's Purse where shoeboxes are packed by individuals or churches with school supplies, toys, hygiene items, etc. for needy children around the world. This shoebox is often the only gift the child receives in their lifetime, and they are also instructed on the greatest journey of life--Jesus Christ. Every year on the third week of November Chambersburg Alliance Church becomes the drop-off location for other churches and individuals. We put the filled shoeboxes into cartons and then deliver them to Antrim B/C church which, in turn, places the cartons into tractor-trailers that deliver them to processing centers. Dates and times will be posted on the events calendar.

GriefShare

After the funeral, when the cards and flowers have stopped coming, most of the people around you return to their normal lives. But your grief continues, and you feel alone. Often, friends and family want to help you, but don’t know how. That’s the reason for GriefShare. Our group is led by caring people who have experienced grief and have successfully rebuilt their lives. We understand how you feel because we’ve been in the same place. We will walk with you on the long path through grief toward healing and hope for the future. Join us Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

DivorceCare

Unless you’ve been there, it’s hard to understand the hurt that comes from separation and divorce. We do. Our DivorceCare group is led by people who have been through divorce and understand how you feel because we’ve been in the same place.  You’ll come to see your group as an “oasis” in an otherwise difficult season of your life. The program is non-denominational and features practical information and biblical teaching for recovering from divorce or separation. Each session is “self-contained,” so you are welcome to begin attending our group at any point. We meet Thursdays 6:30-8:30 p.m.
